Based on the plan drawings of Wolfsburg Science Center, my interpretation of the technique used in designing this Zaha Hadid's project can be summarized to Distortion. Distortion is described as an alliteration or a change in direction of original state.
In this project, distortion was created by changing the direction of projection lines that correspond directly to the geometries extracted of the precedent's plan drawing. These lines are then projected directly to the existing site vertical contours. In doing so, the lines are able to show movement of the human body, drainage and inapplicable spaces. These spaces are then developed to become the programs required.
Intersecting lines between those projection and contour lines are further developed into control points. Those control points are integral part in giving access to the spaces and connecting them. Finally, those control points are used to adjust movement of the body in Z direction. Thus, creating a unified movement of a body in X, Y and Z direction.
