The project is a design proposal developed for an upcoming residences complex being developed by Agung Sedayu Group. The standardized program and area were given by the senior Architect consisting of a swimming pool, multi-function hall, fitness center, tenant space, and a small office.
Review presentations are performed weekly throughout the design development progress in order to prepare solutions for the efficiency and effectiveness of these aspects: materials, structure, construction method, maintenance problems, and cost.

This project puts emphasis on methodology. The shape of the building is generated from the simplified shape of the site through a series of grasshopper definitions. The definitions themselves are carefully formed through reverse-engineering the plan, section and elevation drawings of post-1900s architecture drawn by Bernardo Vittone and Guarino Guarini.
The site for this project is located at the heart of Los Angeles, specifically in Father Serra Park, across the Los Angeles Union Station due to its unique irregular shape. The program is the Museum of Motorcycle, highlighting the transportation nature throughout the history of Los Angeles.

The project is located on the top side of Ballona Creek; in the triangular area where the creek splits into smaller channels on the north of Syd Kronenthal Park. This project focuses primarily on the business clusters around the creek, between Jefferson Boulevard and La Cienega Boulevard.
The program aims to be a gathering hub for the workers and the bike path users. The building consists of a café on the first floor, fitness center on the second floor and viewing deck on the third floor. On top of that, the building itself will also act as a bridge and resting area..

This project is located at the foot of permanently closed Puente Hills Landfill. In contrast to the site, this project focuses on mineral mannerism aspect of the construct, both during construction and its lifespan.
Initial research tied up this project with the phenomenon of barn wood theft; materials from Kentucky and other location illicitly harvested to supply the aesthetics of reclaimed authenticity so prevalent in modern coffee shops across the country, which paradoxically claimed to be a new movement in saving the environment.

Tubo Retreat Center is located at Eagle Rock. It is a relatively quiet and calm neighborhood to the Northeast of Downtown Los Angeles. The program aims to be a retreat center for comic book fans.
The highlight of this project is the use of a natural cooling system called ‘Windcatcher’ that was commonly used in a traditional Persian inspired architecture to passively cool their home in a very hot climate.

This project is built on top of a future development by LENA group at the L.A. city market South site. The group has a vision to maintain the historical value of the site.
Museum of Spice is a very apt and efficient proposal to illustrate that vision. Throughout history, spice has been the product of trade. On top of that, Los Angeles today is shaped by various rich cultures from around the world, each one with their own distinct view and tradition towards spices.

The first segment of this assignment required the students to study a single precedent in depth of their choosing from a number of options given. My precedent of choosing is Glass House or Casa de Vidro by architect, Lina Bo Bardi in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The sense of openness and its interaction with the exterior space is the main inspiration of the unit design for this project.
After that we were given a site which is located in Venice, California. In this segment, we were studying the history, essential services around the site, climate, cars and human circulation. Furthermore, we were told to highly consider to build supporting housing based on homelessness problem that is currently occurred within the site. The project then was developed according to those considerations.

In the first segment of this assignment, the students were given a random precedent from around the world to study in terms of diagrams, geometries and control lines. This exercise was very useful to reverse engineer the design process and get a pretty close grasp of it. In my case, the precedent is Wolfsburg Science Center by Zaha Hadid
Following that exercise, the site was given which is near Hansen Dam Recreation Center in Lake View Terrace, California. Then, the students are required to extract the horizontal contours of the site and modify it based on the diagrams, geometries and control lines extracted from the precedent.
Finally, the project purpose is given which is an aquarium and the contours are further developed in vertical contours to add circulation throughout the site and occupiable spaces.

The first segment of this assignment, the students are given one random generic building and site along San Fernando Rd, Los Angles, California. Then, the students are required to know the exact measurements of the building (come to the building and physically measure it was highly encouraged) in order to provide detailed drawings of its plan and elevation. The building given to me was a retail building of Denny's and Autozone near exit 14 of Glendale Freeway. Then, from those information acquired, I modify the building diagrammatically while still maintaining the characteristic of the building.
Next, the students are given the purpose of project which is a museum. To better understand the concept of designing a museum, students were tasked to visit Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in 52 S Central Ave, Los Angeles, California to study the programs and circulation.
Finally, a ready-made/precedent of a historical building was given to be put within our project to enhance the design of the building based on the diagrams developed. The precedent given to me was Piazza d'Oro, Tivoli, Italy. Then, the same exact program extracted from MOCA was applied.

The assignment is designing a lifeguard tower. First, students were required to visit the site which is in Point Dume, Malibu, California. There, we studied the scale, surfaces, low tide, high tide, lighting and climate of the site. Then, students were tasked to research about lifeguard tower and their needs which are then managed to fit into the smallest comfortable footprint. The design of this project are developed based on those considerations.

This is a group project. My partner for this assignmnet is Jae. We are first given a precedent, which is Mapungubwe Interpretation Centre, Limpopo, South Africa by Peter Rich Architects. We are required to research in depth the unique construction method of the given building, do a real world experiment and finally, build a model based on the construction method learned from the precedent.

In the first segment of the assignment, students were required to take photographs of another classmate doing a particular activity, which my activity is reading. Then, we traced the photograph diagrammatically in form of geometries and lines in order to determine a particular word that describe that certain activity. I came out with rotation as the word to describe my activity. These studies of the activity are the main considerations of designing the building. Thus, my building project is a library.
